We did it! The launch of our first issue was successful and the community response was overwhelming. We’re so glad you love it and it couldn’t be possible without the hard work of our designers, our editors, our writers and our photographers. Thank you all so much!

I was born in the old Sutter Davis Hospital, delivered by the late Dr. Neil Vaughn, a beloved, long-time Davis doctor. I grew up in Davis, as my parents did and as my children are. We have all gone to the same high school and I watched the football games at the same field where my dad played and where my son Spencer now plays. I have memories around every corner, as do my grandparents, my parents and my children. I’ve experienced every milestone, heartache, birth of a new baby, new career and family celebration in Davis.

This magazine is for those of you who were here when there was only one stoplight, for those of you who went to school where the city offices now reside, for those of you who remember Lee’s Drug Store and Vic’s Ice Cream, for those of you who were here long enough to graduate from UC Davis and for those of you who have only recently been able to call Davis home. With this magazine I offer up my sincere gratitude to this wonderful town that has always been my home, and I hope that the magazine grows as beautifully over the years as Davis has.
